[MAP LOCATION NOT EXACT!]
Founded in 2018, Komunidad Kolinda is an autonomous multi-generational Intentional Eco-Community with 11 international permanent inhabitants living on 6.5 hectares of forested shared land in the temperate high-altitude Sierra Sur mountains of Oaxaca, Mexico, where we practice regenerative agriculture and reforestation, bioconstruction, traditional medicine, art and spirituality in close alignment with the local Zapotec indigenous population.
We are located at an altitude of 2300m in a mixed pine oak forest on a beautiful piece of land with three streams, various waterfalls, amazing views and the constant song of birds. We are 3 families from Mexico and Europe, 5 adults and 6 kids. Our aim is to live harmoniously and regeneratively while we create a place where our kids can grow and where people can come together in nature, eat from the land, learn new skills and find peace of mind.
We are still in the process of moving onto the land. We are building 3 private houses and a communal workshop, mostly out of clay, wood and other natural materials. We have a tipi, a communal kitchen, lots of fruit trees, terraced gardens, beautiful camping spaces, a hot tub by our mountain creek and, more often than not, a small pack of volunteers from all over the world making pizzas in our clay oven and getting their hands dirty on our building projects and in the gardens.
Once we live on the land we envision an active community life where we host workshops with teachers instructing in permaculture, yoga, natural building, music, art and anything else desired; where we host meditation and nature retreats and where healers perform plant medicine ceremonies and we sing the songs of our hearts.
We are currently fundraising for two projects that will bring both social and ecological benefits to this region – a House of Healing & Traditional Medicine, and the reforestation project Bosque de Mil Anos (Thousand-Year Forest).

There is no carved-in-stone recipe to become a full, permanent member of Komunidad Kolinda. But it would be a lengthy process. Volunteering is a good start.

We are researching ecovillages and would like to stay in yours for a couple of days – to volunteer to help however you need.
We’ll fly from Mexico City to Oaxaca October 17. Do you have room for two adults? How far are you from Oaxaca City?
