The Hortus Cyrenaicus is a place where people are living in harmony and symbiosis with the nature. The philosophical idea of pleasure and enjoyment is transferred to the nature and the respect given to it as well as the rethinking of predicted values, procedures and processes asking what is the most suitable for protecting the earth and providing an enjoyable condition for living. We are not interested in politics or any of these values given by systems or doctrines. We accept the freedom of thinking and the freedom of opinion as long as it is not disrespectful to others.
The concept is to be as autarkic as possible. The Hortus has its own water resources and produces its own electricity.
We were happy to find a location with existing fruit trees that were forgotten for years, so we can start to produce Cherries, Apples and Peaches in full natural ways. We are planning to sell the surpluses of the production to support the farm with these revenues and also experimenting in different processing’s, like juices, jams, dried fruits etc.
The variety of products is scheduled to be expanded in the coming years by other fruits, vegetables and fish. We would like to have own bees and some animals like goats and sheep for cheese production and donkey for supporting the work without the use of fossil energy driven machines.
Currently, we are preparing the water system, the electricity system and building the Yourta Village. The Yourta village is starting with five Yourtas coming from Central Asia and build up on the Hortus for eco-tourism purpose. Interested people can come and either find their own relaxing and enjoyment or join us and having a look to what we are doing. There are several areas where we would be happy of having support.
When the Yourta Village is established, a Music Studio and Stage is foreseen to be built, followed by some wood houses and other building projects.
If you are interested in supporting us or joining us, please feel free to contact.

We are open for people who want to visit us for a short while, a longer period or even who would like to join us as permanent resident. Currently, we are searching for support in the electrification, starting with the set up of the 80 KW solar panels, we bought down to the laying of cables to yourts etc. People who can work with wood are also highly demanded at present for the reconstruction of 3 train wagons and some other wood projects... For the construction of two Wood-Straw-Clay house concepts, we are also looking for support from people who have done such kind of buildings before... but also for the farm, we would be happy finding people who are into gardening, farming, fish breeding. There are so many interesting and important things for the development of the ecovillage and farm to be done... if you are interested, please get in touch...

Hi Mimount,
Sorry for the late reply, we are currently very busy on the farm and in the village construction.
We do need a lot of more hands and people with specific skills, eg for the installation of the 80 KW solar system.
Please send me an email via [email protected] to talk more in detail
Best regards
Frank
