The Village” is located 71 km south of the Capital city of Phnom Penh, halfway to the popular destination known as Kampot and Kep on the south coast of Cambodia.
Our Sustainable Community model is based on various studies and practices done by leading experts such as Schumaker, Dr. Kapra, and Prof. Yunus.
As Dr. Capra says,” Natural ecosystem exists as webs, networks of interrelated parts that are multi-dimensional and non-linear. They have cycles and they self-regulate by a process of feedback loops. These loops create learning and this learning creates growth and creativity.”
The sustainable community model has 4 key Pillars –
1. Economic growth
2. Talent development
3. Wellbeing
4. Sustainable living conditions
These can be achieved by combining the following 4 elements that are interrelated and self-organizing.
1. Passion – Passion for traditional skills, culture, and personal development
2. Creativity – developed by learning that is a result of the feedback loops
3. Harvesting sustainable resources – local resources that enhance the ecology
4. Entrepreneurship – as a vehicle for turning passion, creativity, and resources into profits that can be invested back into the community.
The project was established in collaboration with the Meas family who have been actively involved in the community improvement efforts for generations, especially after the fall of the Khmer Rouge.
At the village, you will be able to visit the projects we are working on and get an opportunity to share and exchange knowledge that can have a lasting mutual impact. You will find out how each step in making these products impact multiple families through micro-entrepreneurship.
We are a strong ambassador of responsible tourism and for that reason, we do not support short-term/unskilled volunteerism, however, we do welcome professionals who want to immerse themselves in our world and believe in co-creating solutions that are led by the local village people.
